Stuart Bloom
Stuart Bloom is a graduate of Purdue University with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, currently working in the advanced development group at Rolls Royce Corporation. His most recent assignment is member of the exhaust nozzle design team for a new turbojet engine which will attempt to break the world speed record for an air breathing turbine engine (approximately Mach 3.3) in late 2007.
Stuart has worked in several industries over his 26 year career, ranging from consumer products and power generation to defense weapons systems and aircraft gas turbine engines. Assignments have included conceptual and preliminary design, detail component design, production implementation and support, and product and packaging durability testing and analysis.
Stuart volunteers as a mentor for Pike High School’s robotics team (the Pike RoboDevils) which participates in FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology - www.usfirst.org) Robotics competitions, BEST (Boosting Science Engineering and Technology - www.bestinc.org) competitions, and Bot Ball (www.botball.org) competitions. He also works with the FIRST organization as an active volunteer at the state level (www.IndianaFIRST.org) as well as volunteering to help staff regional and national championship events.
